The Swych MD2 platform also has the standard 2.4Ghz Wifi stack for normal close range usage with standard routers on lower range use cases.

The MD-2 is a versatile Modbus-to-IoT bridge host designed to adapt to your connectivity environment. It combines the ubiquity of WiFi with the extreme range of HaLow in a single DIN-rail mountable unit, giving engineers the flexibility to retrofit legacy infrastructure in any location. 1. Mode A: Standalone WiFi Edge Node When WiFi is available, the MD-2 acts as a fully autonomous modbus host. It requires no gateway and no external server. Embedded Web Server: Technicians can configure nodes and register maps directly from a browser-based UI hosted on the device. Direct REST API: Integrate directly with local SCADA, MES, or cloud dashboards. Send HTTP requests directly to the MD-2 IP address to read/write Modbus registers instantly. Ideal For: Indoor machinery, factory floors with strong WiFi coverage, and single-asset retrofits. 2. Mode B: Long-Range HaLow Node When assets are beyond the reach of WiFi (basements, outdoor fields, remote pump stations), When paired with the HaLow Router the MD-2 can run in HaLow Mode Seamless Aggregation: Pairs with most HaLow capable Routers to transmit data over hundreds of meters. Transparent Tunneling: The MD-2 acts as a transparent remote I/O extender, allowing the central Gateway or system to issue commands and collect state data without local network infrastructure. Ideal For: Remote facilities, agricultural assets, large factory's, sprawling campuses, and deep-indoor environments. 3. Universal Modbus Integration Regardless of the communication mode, the MD-2 remains a powerful industrial translator. Protocol Support: Modbus RTU (RS-485) Smart Polling: Configurable polling intervals allow you to balance data granularity with bandwidth/power usage. Bi-Directional Control: Supports both Reading (Coils, Discrete Inputs, Holding Registers, Input Registers) and Writing (Single/Multiple Coils & Registers), enabling active remote control, not just passive monitoring. The MD-2 eliminates the 'connectivity dilemma.' If you have WiFi, use it for high-speed, direct API control. If you don't, utilize HaLow for half kilometer range communication.
